In an effort to accommodate those members bringing a spouse and/or family to this year’s conference, we have arranged the following activities:

Tour Option 1: San Diego City Tour and Harbor Cruise

Friday, September 5, 10:00am-3:00pm

This informative journey through America’s finest city will introduce you to San Diego’s past, present, and future. Your tour begins in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, originally purchased and developed by Alonzo Horton in 1854. The contemporary architecture of recent developments in this heart of Downtown San Diego complement the original buildings from the 1800s that have been lovingly restored. You will continue on to Balboa Park with its world-class museums and galleries housed in buildings of Spanish-Moorish architecture and home to the San Diego Zoo.  Then, sit back and enjoy a one-hour, fully narrated tour on the San Diego Bay aboard a Harbor Excursion boat with scenic views of Coronado, North Island, the Embarcadero, and Cabrillo National Park.  Finally, off to picturesque “Old Town,” the first European settlement in California, where you will have some free time to admire the unique shops, sample some local fare, or travel back to Early San Diego through the historic displays throughout Old Town.  San Diego, “America’s Finest City,” is waiting to be discovered!

Tour Option 2: La Jolla Coast Walk and Shopping Tour

Saturday, September 6, 10:00am-3:00pm

This option is the perfect activity for any group, especially for those who want to visit one of the most beautiful places on earth. La Jolla comes alive with a 1 - 2 hour guided walking tour. Follow pathways and enter sandy coves as you wind along the famed La Jolla coastline learning about La Jolla's history, marine life, and kelp beds. You'll enjoy some of the loveliest ocean views in southern California and experience close encounters with pelicans, cormorants, rocky inter-tidal life, and harbor seals—usually sunning on the beach or Seal Rocks. La Jolla isn’t just another tourist town. “The jewel,” is an apt description of this charming village with its many upscale boutiques, fine restaurants, art galleries, and charm of a Mediterranean isle.  And the shopping in La Jolla is incomparable! Prospect Street & Girard Avenue are La Jolla’s answer to Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive. “Must See & Shop” stores include Mila, Corrines, Alcala Gallery and Bell Maision. Mixed in with the upscale boutiques are shops created those who love to find a great bargain as well!
