The certification offered this year is the Certified Forensic Consultant, CFCSM. The CFC credential is an excellent way to supplement your income since some mental health professionals earn up to $500 an hour as an expert witness in judicial proceedings.
The judicial process may be unfamiliar and intimidating. The CFC course will teach you both ethics and jurisprudence and prepare you to be successful in court.
The CFC course covers the following:
- Adhering to professional ethics
- Following proper documentation procedures
- Writing error-proof reports
- Preparing interrogatories and deposition testimony; assisting counsel in the same
- Presenting testimonial evidence and opinions
- Providing courtroom testimony
- Comporting with jurisdictional rules, including the Federal Rules of Evidence (FRE) and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence (FRCPE)
- Preparing a professional resume/curriculum vitae, retainer agreements, contracts and other documents necessary for your protection
There are two ways to become a Certified Forensic Consultant:
- Training Course & Examination: The CFC training course is offered at our National Conference. The course features two days of classroom instruction, including interactive role-playing, followed by a comprehensive exam.
- Alternatively, you may take this course and exam online. Enrolling in this course online will earn you a complimentary one year membership with ACFEI. APA applicants can download this membership form upon enrolling into the CFC course and exam online.
