• One CE credit is issued per one hour of course instruction.
• Continuing education credits can be obtained by reading articles approved for CE credit in Annals of the American Pschotherapy Association (either in print or online) and completing the appropriate quizzes, by attending continuing education sessions at APA's annual and regional meetings, or by completing the continuing education activities of an equivalent organization.
• The reporting period for CE credits is from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. The Required 15 credits are due by Dec. 31. Please note your membership renewals are based on your anniversary date while CE credits are based on a calendar year.
• CE credits are not required the year you receive the certification. The CE Credit reporting period begins on January 1 after you receive the certification.
• To receive credit for the completion of continuing education credits from an equivalent organization, you must submit copies of the certificate of completion/attendance.

  Certificates should contain the following:

  • Your name
  • The date of the course
  • The title of the course
  • The number of CE credits issued
  • The name of the sponsoring organization of the course
  • Any accrediting information regarding the sponsoring organization

All other APA members and Diplomates who received the designation before October 2001, may participate in a voluntary continuing education program. Continuing education credits through the American Psychotherapy Association will be offered to allow you the opportunity to develop skills and enhance credentials. Any continuing education credits earned through APA will be recorded.
