Featured Course: Bought Out and $pent

The American Psychotherapy Association is excited to announce a new online training course, Bought Out and $pent.

The course is open to anyone with an interest in learning more about Compulsive Shopping and Spending, and the underlying causes.  Do you have clients that are struggling with overspending?  Is their over spending causing problems in other areas of their life? Are they now struggling in their personal relationships?

This course includes:

  • True accounts of people who have been compulsive shoppers or spenders.
  • Various reasons why people overshop or overspend and other money dysfunctions as well as important data, statistics, and the challenges and issues that arise.
  • Exercises to help people stop overshopping and overspending and move toward greater peace and wholeness in recovery.

Consider these statistics:

  • 17 Million Americans are compulsive shoppers/spenders
       (Stanford University Landmark Study, 2006)
  • Nearly half of all compulsive shoppers/spenders are men
       (Stanford Study, 2006)
  • Arguments over money and spending are the number one reason for couples’ conflict and divorce (Psychology Today)
  • The average credit card debt per American citizen is nearly $10,000—mostly from unnecessary purchases (Time and Money magazines)

This course isn’t about finances from the viewpoint of how to make more money or how to save more money. It’s more about our emotional and psychological relationship to money and to things. It’s about going deeper—to the roots.
Due to the current economic times, you and your clients can benefit from this training now more than ever.
